Will Underground Dog Fence Installation Disturb My Lawn or Driveway?
A professionally installed underground dog fence requires far less construction and property disruption than a traditional fence. Most Capital Region installations take a half day or full day and are completed in a single visit. The total time depends on the acreage, terrain, driveway materials, and complexity of the customized layout.
For a particularly large or difficult project, we may send multiple technicians to complete the work in one day. The initial professional training session usually takes place during that visit as long as the dog is home and old enough. When installation must be coordinated with paving or landscaping before a dog is ready, we can install the system first and schedule training later.
In most lawns, our equipment uses a narrow blade that places the boundary wire while opening and closing the ground in one process. We press the grass back together, leaving a nearly seamless finish without a wide trench or large areas of disturbed soil. Any location requiring more noticeable hand installation is reviewed with the homeowner beforehand.
We choose the driveway-crossing method according to the surface. Dirt and gravel driveways receive protective PVC pipe. For concrete, we generally place and seal the wire inside an existing joint. Asphalt requires only a narrow groove, approximately the width of a pencil, which is filled with a black tar compound to create a flush surface. The finished area remains safe for everyday driving and winter plowing.
Our scheduling lead times are typically much shorter than those for physical fence construction. Underground systems also generally do not require building permits, zoning approval, setback review, or formal lot maps, although homeowners should obtain HOA approval when required.
