A warning from your transmitter should never be ignored. On systems installed by Hidden Pet Fence, a beeping transmitter indicates a complete break in the boundary wire. The entire fence is inactive, not only the section near the damage. Unplug the box to stop the sound, leash your dog, and contact us for service.
Different manufacturers use different warning signals. Some transmitters beep, some flash, and others lose an indicator light. If there is no warning but you suspect a failure, make sure the box has power by testing the outlet with another device or using an extension cord from a working outlet.
A receiver collar with a dead battery or low charge can also resemble a fence problem. Check the collar before assuming the wire is damaged. You may carry it near knee level toward the boundary and listen for its warning tone, but not everyone can hear its frequency. Never test an uncertain system by sending your dog toward the boundary.
