Happy Thanksgiving from our entire team. We hope your holiday is filled with comfort, gratitude, and time spent with the pets who make every day brighter. As the kitchen fills with the familiar scents of a Thanksgiving feast, it can be tempting to share a few bites with your dog. A quick refresher on what is safe can help keep the day stress free.
Plain turkey meat is safe for dogs as long as it is cooked and served without skin, bones, or seasoning. Simple sides like unseasoned mashed potatoes, plain green beans, carrots, and pure pumpkin are all healthy choices. These foods are gentle on a dog’s stomach and offer a fun way to include them in the celebration.
Some dishes should stay off your dog’s plate. Stuffing, gravy, and most casseroles are usually made with onions, garlic, butter, cream, and heavy seasoning. These ingredients can make dogs sick. Desserts, especially anything containing chocolate, nutmeg, or artificial sweeteners, should be avoided. Turkey bones and skin are also unsafe.
With a little awareness, everyone can enjoy a safe and happy holiday. Our offices will be closed Thanksgiving day until Monday, December 1st. We wish you and your pets a warm Thanksgiving filled with good food and happy memories.
