Over the last several weeks, our dog fence experts put the Halo 5 GPS collar to the test to see how it performs in real world conditions. With extensive experience working with both traditional and wireless containment systems, we understand how important reliability is when it comes to keeping dogs safe. In our latest YouTube video linked below, we share an honest review of the Halo 5 and explain what we observed during our testing process.
Although the Halo 5 includes updates compared to earlier Halo models, our results were concerning. Throughout testing, we experienced inconsistent boundary detection and delayed or unpredictable corrections. Dogs depend on clear and consistent feedback to learn and respect their boundaries. When signals are unreliable, it can lead to confusion, anxiety, and a breakdown in training.
Unpredictable performance also increases the risk of dangerous situations. A collar that fails to respond at the right moment may allow a dog to wander beyond safe areas or receive feedback that does not align with their actions. Based on our hands on experience, we do not feel the Halo 5 meets the safety standards we expect from a GPS containment system.
